Happy birthday to Suzie!!! She is a great friend and amazing teacher. Her spunky attitude has influenced our group for the better in so many ways. Today everybody was at hospitals today in three groups. A pediatric hospital, adult hospital, and maternity hospital. I heard stories from others at the adult and peds hospitals that sounded like experiences that were one in a lifetime. At the maternity hospital I was shocked at the environment that the women labor and then birth their children in. I told myself never to complain once I am back in the United States. Ecudaorian women are so strong giving birth without hardly any support and no medication. All the students in the maternity were able to see at least one birth. The mothers were so grateful for the newborns kits that we gave them consisting of different blankets, supplies, and a bulb syringe. After working at the hospitals we had the chance to go to Parque de Historico. It was like a jungle type zoo area that had comedy shows/ and fun performances. It seems alot like the PCC in Hawaii if I were to compare it to something but more Ecudaor style! Tonight we all met at our favorite ice cream place Fragola's to celebrate Suzie's birthday. Today has been a great day!
