Saturday May 4th BEACH DAY
We traveled to a Ocean beach resort which is one hour outside of Guayaquil southeast of Salinas
We sang most of the way there and everyone was very excited swim in the ocean and work on their tans.
On our way to the resort we were stopped several times by police at check points. Casey who was sitting on her mothers lap was quite agile in jumping up and dropping between the seats covering herself with backpacks in about 3 seconds. Entertaining to watch to say the least! Upon arrival we noticed the sun was not shining like it had been the entire week but it was still warm enough that everyone could not resist jumping in the ocean and swimming. We had a very nice set up with lounge chairs along the pool with catered ceveche and for lunch, sea bass in a delicious orange sauce with all sorts of other sea animals killed and placed decoratively along with the dish.
Some of the activities participated in were beach volleyball, sea shell finding, sharks and minnows, and washing machine with the entire group and some from Ecuador who wanted to join in on the fun. As the day progressed, it became colder but our skin became redder.
Despite the cloud cover, several student suffered from minor to more serious sunburns. Some of the students made it to the warmer Jacuzzi water and others changed and played some games in the club house which included fuse ball, ping pong, and air hockey. Sarah was one of the lucky students and won a free 45 minute massage which we can only image was heavenly. The trip was anticipated by all and did not fail to deliver good times, laughs, and despite no sun shine, lots of UV radiation. We traveled back the same way we came, most cannot remember the trip because they were all passed out in their chairs or lying on the floor. Once we arrived we had a wonderful devotional and retired to our rooms to pass out in a more comfortable position.
